Position: Administrative Support/Dog Trainer Assistant

This position is a support position in our small, growing dog training company with opportunity for advancement and additional responsibilities for a motivated candidate.  Minimum of 50% of hours worked will be administrative tasks.

Qualities & Skills of a Qualified Applicant:

Experience handling, caring for and training dogs is helpful but not required.  The right candidate will receive ongoing training in all job-specific tasks and education.  The personal qualities and strong work ethic of candidates will be given greater consideration over experience in the industry.  The qualities and skills we are looking for in a candidate include, but are not limited to:

-High degree of patience, empathy and compassion for both dogs and humans
 

-Superior customer service skills, organization and attention to detail
 

-Ability to learn new tasks and skills quickly with a high degree of accuracy, eagerness to continue learning in an industry that is constantly evolving
 

-Above average skills in observation, multi-tasking, time management and use of technology
 

-Ideal candidate has experience in graphic design, social media and document creation; willingness & interest in learning these skills will be considered
 

-Ability to make sound & safe decisions quickly, think on your feet, remain calm in stressful situations and react quickly to changes
 

-Personal commitment to dog owner education and dog safety & well-being
 

-Comfortable and physically able to handle a variety of dogs without prejudice – different breeds, sizes, personalities, abilities and strengths
 

-Passionate about teaching and working with people at various ages (including children) from a variety of backgrounds, education & skill levels without prejudice or preference
 

-Self motivated, able to work both independently and as part of a team, willingness to go above and beyond for client satisfaction and invest in the company business plan and interests
 

-Fluent communication skills both verbally & written, able to speak comfortably in small groups and on an individual basis with a high degree of professionalism
 

-Willing & able to work long hours indoors & outdoors - standing, walking, bending, lifting and completing physical work in a variety of climates and terrains
 

-Reliable transportation & clean driving record REQUIRED
 

-Reliable access to internet, computer and phone REQUIRED
 

 Position Tasks & Expectations:
 

-Communicate professionally with customers and referral sources by phone & email, including being the initial contact with potential clients & providing an efficient and accurate intake process
 

-Administrative tasks including data entry, organization, creation of documents & resources, research, support to company owner & training staff
 

-Light cleaning duties to ensure a safe & clean working environment for all staff
 

-Assist with training and socialization activities under the supervision of our trainers
 

-Coach, encourage, motivate, educate, inspire and support dog owners in their training goals
 

-Complete career-long continuing education to become an expert in all subjects, products & services provided
 

Benefits & Compensation:

-Part time work, starting at 10-20 hours per week
 

-Availability 9am-5pm Tuesdays & Thursdays REQUIRED, flexibility to work evenings & Saturdays; some work from home and flexible scheduling options
 

-Potential for growth into additional hours & tasks with experience & competence
 

-Starting wage $10-15/hour
